Joseph "Joe" Feland
Joe Feland is a recognized expert in the field of fire investigation. He began his career in 2004 as a cadet for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Oregon where he worked in Marine Patrol. In 2006, he began working as a Patrol Deputy conducting criminal investigations in various crimes to include Arson.
In 2010, Joe began working for the Oregon State Police where he worked as a Patrol Trooper with the added duties of a Drug Recognition Expert, where he instructed new and experienced police officers in various fields.
In 2014, Joe was promoted to Detective and took a position with both the Arson and Explosives unit. Over the next couple of years, Joe became a NFPA Certified Fire Investigator, IAAI-FIT®(Fire Investigation Technician) and an Hazardous Device Technician (Bomb Tech). Joe attended multiple trainings, more notably, to include the National Fire Academy's Fire Investigation courses, FBI's Bomb Technician School, ATF's Advanced Demolition School, FEMA's Hazardous Materials Technician School, and ATF/FBI's post blast school.
In 2021, Joe transitioned from public service for a new position as a Fire Investigator for a private fire investigation company and became an IAAI-CFI®.
Joe sits on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Chapter of the IAAI and assists with teaching the IAAI Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony Course offered in Oregon.
During his time spent in the field of fire investigations, Joe has developed multiple connections and professional relationships with both public and private agencies throughout Oregon and the surrounding states.
With nearly 18 years in law enforcement and investigations and over a decade in fire and explosion investigations, Joe brings knowledge and experience to every fire scene for a successful investigation.
